Setup PayPal API Key
A PayPal Business Account is required. If you do not already have one, please create a business account under PayPal.
Creation of an API key
Open dashboard
- Open the page https://developer.paypal.com/developer/applications/
- Select "My Apps & Credentials" from the side menu.
Sandbox & Live API Key
In the content area you will now see a selection button for "Sandbox" & "Live". Sandbox is an isolated area - a test environment. This is used to test the configuration of the PayPal integration. This means that the real PayPal account is not debited. With Live, on the other hand, you receive the real PayPal data required for live use.
The following process must therefore be carried out twice. Once for the test environment (sandbox) and once for the live environment (live).
Creating an API key
- Now select an environment for which the data is to be created (sandbox or live)
- Under the item "REST API apps" please click on "Create App".
- Enter an "App name". For example, you can use "Campus Events Sandbox". Then click on "Create App".
- Now display the "Secret" on the following page by clicking on "Show".
Required data
Please send us the following data:
- PayPal account / Sandbox account
- Client ID
- Secret
Create sandbox account
To use the sandbox functionality, a sandbox account must be created.
To do this, you will find the Sandbox > Accounts item in the left-hand menu column.
Below this you can create various sandbox accounts(Create Account). Paypal will guide you through this process.
